Tesla Model 3 frunk: old (larger) vs new heat-pump (smaller) — which fits?
Short answer: there are two Model 3 frunk (front trunk tub) generations. The earlier, larger frunk fits cars built through roughly the end of 2020 (Tesla OE 1509565-00-A, later revised to 1645350-00-A). The 2021-onward heat-pump cars use a different, slightly smaller frunk (OE 1526738). They are not interchangeable.
Tesla made the frunk a bit smaller when it added the heat pump up front, so a later tub has different clips and dimensions. Match your build date or your original part number before ordering.
Why there are two frunks
Tesla updated the Model 3 frunk in 2020, making it slightly smaller — widely understood to make room for the heat pump that arrived on the Model 3 around late 2020. Cars from before that change carry the larger frunk tub.
Within the larger (pre-heat-pump) generation there are two part numbers: the original 1509565-00-A and a later revision 1645350-00-A (the 'AH' assembly, from around August 2019, which dropped the included carpet/velcro). Both are the larger, pre-heat-pump tub.
How to order the right one
Use your build date as a hint — through about 2020 = larger frunk (1509565 / 1645350); 2021 on = smaller heat-pump frunk (1526738) — then confirm with the OE number on your original part, since the changeover was mid-production.
