Tesla upper control arm replacement cost: parts, labour, alignment
Updated · Version française

Short answer: the part is most of the bill. A front upper control arm for a Tesla Model 3 or Model Y is CA$89 aftermarket or CA$189 in genuine ZF Lemförder, per side. Tesla's flat-rate time is 0.54 to 0.90 hour per side, depending on the car, and its alignment tables call for an EPAS alignment check afterwards, not a four-wheel alignment.
Left and right are different parts: left 1044321-00-J (aftermarket) or 1188321-10-C (ZF), right 1044326-00-J or 1188326-10-C. Our aftermarket arm is listed for the Model 3 (2017–2023), Model 3 Highland and Model Y (2020–2024); the ZF arm fits those cars and the Model Y Juniper.
What a Tesla front upper control arm costs
Both sides in aftermarket come to CA$178, both in ZF Lemförder to CA$378. The ZF Lemförder arms carry Tesla's own part numbers; the aftermarket arm is made to fit the same position.
| Side | Aftermarket (Tesla OE) | Aftermarket price | ZF Lemförder (Tesla OE) | ZF price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Left | 1044321-00-J | CA$89 | 1188321-10-C | CA$189 |
| Right | 1044326-00-J | CA$89 | 1188326-10-C | CA$189 |
How long Tesla's procedure takes
Tesla's North American service manuals give a flat-rate time for one front upper control arm, per side. The 2020–2024 Model Y has two versions of the procedure: one for cars with the structural battery pack and one for cars without it.
| Car | Tesla correction code | Flat-rate time |
|---|---|---|
| Model 3 (2017–2023) | 31014002 | 0.72 h |
| Model 3 (2024+) | 3101030012 | 0.54 h |
| Model Y (2020–2024), without the structural battery pack | 31014002 | 0.66 h |
| Model Y (2020–2024), with the structural battery pack | 31014022 | 0.90 h |
| Model Y (2025+) | 3101030402 | 0.54 h |
What the procedure involves
In Tesla's Model 3 procedures (2017–2023 and 2024+), the arm's mount is held to the body by bolts torqued to 35 Nm (13 mm socket) and 62 Nm (15 mm socket); on the 2025+ Model Y they are 34 Nm and 62 Nm. The 2017–2023 Model 3 procedure starts by looking at the tires for abnormal wear that might point to an alignment problem, and noting it.
Do you need an alignment after replacing an upper control arm?
Not a full one by default. Tesla's Alignment Requirement tables for the 2017–2023 and 2024+ Model 3 and the 2020–2024 and 2025+ Model Y all list an EPAS alignment check (EC) for the front upper control arm. Tesla's procedure says to add the alignment check or adjustment as a separate line.
If the car passes the EPAS check, no alignment is needed. If it fails, a four-wheel alignment check follows. In the 2025+ Model Y manual, the EPAS check is 0.1 hour, the four-wheel check 0.30 hour and an adjustment 0.9 hour.
The lower links follow different rules: one lateral link needs an EPAS check, both need a four-wheel check, and a compliance link needs none. Our lateral vs compliance link guide prices those links next to Tesla's times.
What the job adds up to
On a 2025+ Model Y (Juniper), one side is the ZF arm at CA$189, plus 0.54 hour of labour and the 0.1-hour EPAS check at your shop's rate. On the other cars, the arm is CA$89 aftermarket or CA$189 ZF per side, plus Tesla's time from the table above and the EPAS check.
Ships to any address in Canada by ground courier: about 2 business days to Alberta and Saskatchewan, 3 to Manitoba, 5 to Ontario and Quebec (business days, not counting weekends). Orders can also be picked up free at our Richmond, BC office.

Frequently asked
How much does it cost to replace a Tesla upper control arm?
The arm is CA$89 aftermarket or CA$189 ZF Lemförder per side at MapleV. Tesla's flat-rate time is 0.54 to 0.90 hour per side, depending on the car, plus an EPAS alignment check (0.1 hour in the 2025+ Model Y manual), at your shop's hourly rate.
Do I need a wheel alignment after replacing a Tesla upper control arm?
