Tesla front bumper replacement cost: Model 3 & Model Y parts and labour hours

A front bumper replacement on a Tesla Model 3 or Model Y is four lines on the estimate: the cover, the small parts that break with it, the labour to swap it, and the paint. The cover itself runs CA$339 to CA$479 unpainted in our catalogue, depending on the car. Tesla's own service manual allows 0.78 to 0.90 hour to replace it. Paint is priced by the shop for your colour.
Below: the cover price for each generation, Tesla's flat-rate time for each, what else usually ends up on the bill, and how to read a quote against those numbers. Our prices are generated from the catalogue, so they match the product pages. We sell parts and do no body work, so we give no dollar figure for labour or paint.
Cover price and Tesla's labour time, by generation
Tesla lists two procedures for the front bumper. Remove and install takes the cover off and puts the same one back, for example to reach parts behind it. Remove and replace fits a new cover, and includes moving parts such as the lights, sensors and grille across from the old one. A new cover is the second one.
The Model Y Juniper and the Model 3 Highland Performance use a two-piece front bumper. If only the lower section is scraped, the lower piece alone is CA$309 on the Juniper and CA$229 on the Highland Performance.

What the labour time covers, and what it doesn't
On the 2017–2023 Model 3, Tesla's replace procedure removes the front licence plate bracket and the cover, then moves across both front turn signal and fog lights, the six parking sensors where fitted, the ambient air temperature sensor harness, the tow hook cover and the grille. On the Highland, the fascia harness, the front valance, the grille and eight B-nuts move to the new cover, and the front fascia camera, where fitted, is reconnected. On the Juniper, the grille, the valance, the front fascia camera and the fascia harness move across.
Tesla notes that each flat-rate time already includes the procedures it links to, and that correction codes should not be stacked unless the procedure says so. So a quote that bills remove and install and then remove and replace for the same cover is counting the removal twice.
None of these procedures include paint. The cover arrives unpainted, so prep, primer, colour, clear coat and often blending into the fenders are separate refinish lines. Those depend on your colour and the shop's paint system, and are usually a large share of the bill.
What else usually ends up on the bill
A hit hard enough to crack the cover often breaks the parts fitted to it: the side brackets that hold the cover's edges to the fenders, the grille, the lower shield and clips. Behind the cover are the energy absorber foam on the bumper beam and, in a harder hit, the beam itself. These only show up once the cover is off, which is why a first estimate often grows after teardown.
Camera calibration is the line people don't expect. Swapping a bolt-on cover with no camera in it does not normally need calibration. The Juniper and some Highland cars have a camera in the front fascia, though, and a camera that has been unplugged or moved may need calibrating.
Order the cover that matches your car. Model 3 (2017–2023) and Model Y (2020–2024) covers come with or without parking sensor holes, and a mismatched cover leaves holes where there are no sensors, or no holes for the sensors you have.
Checking a quote against these numbers
Shops price labour as hours times their posted hourly rate. For a cover swap, the hours line should be close to the Tesla time in the table, plus refinish hours for the paint. If the hours are much higher, ask what else is included: brackets, an absorber, the beam or a calibration.
Check the part number for the cover against the table and against the car. The commonest mistake is a sensor-hole cover on a car without sensors, or the reverse. On a Highland or a Juniper, check whether the lower section is damaged too, since it is a separate part.
For the parts themselves, our prices are public list prices in Canadian dollars. Across all 26 bumper covers we sell, front and rear, the typical one is CA$339.
Frequently asked
How much is a Tesla Model 3 front bumper cover?
At MapleV, unpainted: CA$339 for the 2017–2023 Model 3, with or without parking sensor holes, and CA$479 for the 2024+ Model 3 Highland upper cover. The Highland Performance lower section is CA$229. Paint and labour are extra.
How much is a Tesla Model Y front bumper cover?
At MapleV, unpainted: CA$439 for the 2020–2024 Model Y, with or without sensor holes, and CA$479 for the 2025+ Model Y Juniper. The Juniper's separate lower section is CA$309.
How long does it take to replace a Tesla front bumper?
Tesla's flat-rate time to fit a new front bumper cover is 0.78 hour on the 2017–2023 Model 3, 0.90 hour on the Highland, 0.90 hour on a 2020–2024 Model Y with HW3 (0.78 hour with HW4) and 0.84 hour on the Juniper. Painting the new cover is extra, and usually takes longer than fitting it.
Does the new bumper cover come painted?
No. Our covers are supplied unpainted and primer-ready. The body shop paints them to your car's colour code, which is how a matched finish is normally done.
Do I need camera calibration after a front bumper replacement?
Usually not for a plain cover swap. It can be needed on cars with a camera in the front fascia, such as the Model Y Juniper, if the camera was unplugged or moved, and after any work that disturbs the windshield camera.
