How to buy Tesla collision parts in Canada: Tesla, body shops or independent suppliers

Yes, you can buy Tesla collision parts in Canada as an individual. Tesla's own parts site, parts.tesla.com, is open to anyone with a free Tesla account, and Tesla service centres sell parts too. The other routes are a body shop, which orders the parts as part of the repair, and independent suppliers, which sell genuine and aftermarket parts by Tesla part number.

Below: what each route involves, how to find the right part number first, Tesla's return rules, and what changes when the parts come from the U.S. We are one of the independent suppliers, so the comparison sticks to things you can check: Tesla's own pages, Canada Border Services Agency notices, and our published prices and delivery times.

Can you buy parts directly from Tesla in Canada?

Yes. Tesla's page on buying parts, on its Canadian service site, lists four ways to get them: online at parts.tesla.com, from a local Tesla service centre, from Tesla affiliates such as Tesla Approved Collision Centers that resell parts, and from independent distributors. It marks the first three as open to anyone.

To order online you need a free Tesla account. The catalogue shows part numbers, diagrams and prices for your country, and Tesla recommends searching by VIN to check fitment. When we checked in October 2026, a personal (non-business) account on the Canadian catalogue could see the price of a body part, an unpainted Model Y rear bumper cover, and add it to the cart.

Some parts are restricted. Tesla says parts that are security- or theft-relevant, or that may need special programming or setup, can only be configured by professionals registered with a vehicle security accreditation organization. Body shops and independent repairers can also open a Tesla business account, and according to Tesla it offers businesses that buy parts for resale a tax exemption on qualifying orders.

Find the right part number first

Tesla parts change by generation and by revision, so the part number matters more than the description. The 2024+ Model 3 Highland and the 2025+ Model Y Juniper use their own bumpers, lights and many other body parts.

Three ways to get the number: search Tesla's catalogue by VIN, read the number printed on the old part, or take it from the shop's estimate. Our free OE lookup (maplev.ca/oe-lookup/) finds the matching part in our catalogue from a Tesla part number, and our guide to reading Tesla part numbers explains the revision letters.

Tesla's return rules for parts orders

Tesla's parts return policy for North America, effective January 16, 2026, covers orders from the general public. Returns have to be started online at parts.tesla.com within 14 calendar days of delivery. A part you no longer want must be new, uninstalled and in its original packaging, and the refund is the price less a 25% restocking fee, with no shipping refunded.

Some parts are final sale and cannot be returned as unwanted: safety and restraint system parts, electronics such as control modules, wiring harnesses and headlamps, hardware, and painted parts. Store pickup orders must be inspected at pickup and collected within 5 days of the confirmation that they are ready. For shipping damage on body parts that need prep and paint, Tesla may refund part or all of the price as a damage credit if it judges the damage cosmetic and repairable.

Through a body shop or your insurer

If the repair goes through insurance, the body shop orders the parts as part of the repair, and you mostly deal with the shop. You can still ask which parts are on the estimate: genuine Tesla, remanufactured or aftermarket, and their part numbers.

Our guides on whether aftermarket parts affect the Tesla warranty in Canada, and on OEM, aftermarket and CAPA-certified parts, cover what to ask before parts other than Tesla's are used.

From an independent supplier

Independent suppliers sell genuine Tesla parts, remanufactured parts and aftermarket parts made to fit, usually listed by Tesla part number. Before ordering, check that the listing names the exact Tesla part number and generation, whether the part is genuine, aftermarket or CAPA-certified, whether a bumper cover comes painted or unpainted, the return policy, and how large parts are shipped.

MapleV is one of them: we stock Tesla Model 3 and Model Y collision parts in Metro Vancouver, and every part is listed with its Tesla OE number and a public price in Canadian dollars. Ships to any address in Canada by ground courier: about 2 business days to Alberta and Saskatchewan, 3 to Manitoba, 5 to Ontario and Quebec (business days, not counting weekends). Orders can also be picked up free at our Richmond, BC office.

Ordering from a U.S. seller

Under CUSMA, a courier shipment from the U.S. is duty-free up to CA$150 and tax-free up to CA$40. Above those amounts, GST or HST and any duty owed are charged when the parts cross the border, and so is provincial sales tax in the provinces the CBSA collects it for. Couriers may add a brokerage fee.

Since September 8, 2026, Canada also charges a surtax of 15%, 25% or 50% on certain goods made in the U.S., including personal imports and shipments under the low-value thresholds (CBSA Customs Notice 26-23). Whether a part is affected depends on where it was made and whether it is on the surtax list.

Frequently asked

Does Tesla sell parts to the public in Canada?

Yes. Tesla's page on buying parts lists parts.tesla.com and Tesla service centres as open to anyone. You need a free Tesla account to order online. Parts that are security- or theft-relevant, or that may need special programming or setup, can only be configured by accredited professionals.

Can I return a Tesla part I ordered by mistake?

Usually, if you start the return online within 14 calendar days of delivery and the part is new, uninstalled and in its original packaging. Tesla deducts a 25% restocking fee and does not refund shipping. Final-sale parts, such as electronics, headlamps, safety-system parts and painted parts, cannot be returned as unwanted.

How do I find the right Tesla part number?

Search Tesla's catalogue by VIN, read the number printed on the old part, or take it from the shop's estimate. Our free OE lookup finds the matching part in our catalogue from a Tesla part number.

Do I pay duty on Tesla parts ordered from the U.S.?

By courier, a shipment from the U.S. is duty-free up to CA$150 and tax-free up to CA$40; above that, GST or HST, any duty owed and, in some provinces, provincial sales tax are charged. Since September 8, 2026, a surtax of 15%, 25% or 50% also applies to certain U.S.-made goods, even below those amounts.

Can I buy Tesla body parts without going through insurance?

Yes. You can order from Tesla, a service centre or an independent supplier and have a shop fit them. Ask the shop first whether it installs parts you supply.
