Tesla wheel bearing replacement cost: which hub, labour, alignment
Updated · Version française

Short answer: on a 2017–2023 Model 3 or a 2020–2024 Model Y, the wheel bearing is part of the hub, and the hub is most of the bill. Ours is CA$219 per wheel. Tesla's flat-rate time is 0.30 hour for a front hub on a rear-wheel-drive car, 0.48 hour (Model 3) or 0.42 hour (Model Y) for a front hub on a Dual Motor car, and 0.48 hour at the rear. Tesla's alignment tables list no alignment after a hub.
Which hub you need depends on the wheel and the drivetrain. Across the Model 3 and Model Y, Highland and Juniper included, Tesla's catalogue lists five hub numbers. We stock the two front hubs of the 2017–2023 Model 3 and 2020–2024 Model Y: the non-driven 1044122-00-E for rear-wheel-drive cars and the driven 1044121-00-E for Dual Motor cars.
Which Tesla hub fits which wheel
Tesla's parts catalogue files these numbers under "Hub and Bearing". The bearing is not listed on its own, so the hub is replaced as one unit. A driven hub has a splined bore for the halfshaft; a non-driven hub has none. The rear wheels are always driven. The front wheels are driven only on a Dual Motor car.
| Tesla part number | Tesla's name | Where Tesla lists it | MapleV |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1044122-00-E | NON DRIVEN HUB 150MM FLANGE | Front, rear-wheel-drive Model 3 (2017–2023) and Model Y (2020–2024) | CA$219 |
| 1044121-00-E | DRIVEN HUB 150MM FLANGE | Front, Dual Motor Model 3 (2017–2023) and Model Y (2020–2024) | CA$219 |
| 1044123-00-B | DRIVEN HUB 142MM FLANGE | Front of the same Dual Motor cars; rear of the 2017–2023 Model 3 and 2020–2024 Model Y; rear of the Model 3 Highland; front and rear of the Model Y Juniper | Not stocked |
| 1044121-00-F | DRIVEN HUB 150MM FLANGE - STANDARD | Front and rear, Model 3 Highland (2024+) and Model Y Juniper (2025+) | Not stocked |
| 1044122-00-F | NON DRIVEN HUB 142MM FLANGE - STANDARD | Front, rear-wheel-drive Model 3 Highland and Model Y Juniper | Not stocked |
142 mm or 150 mm: check the number, not the year
For the front of a Dual Motor 2017–2023 Model 3 or 2020–2024 Model Y, Tesla's catalogue lists two driven hubs: 1044121-00-E with a 150 mm flange and 1044123-00-B with a 142 mm flange. It does not split them by build date, so the model year can't tell you which one the car has.
Tesla gives the 142 mm and 150 mm hubs different part numbers, so treat them as different parts. Before ordering, match the Tesla number on the estimate. If the estimate only shows Tesla's name for the part, the flange size is part of it: "DRIVEN HUB 150MM FLANGE" or "DRIVEN HUB 142MM FLANGE".
How long Tesla's procedure takes
Tesla's service manuals give a flat-rate time for each hub, per wheel. Tesla says the time covers all the work in the procedure, including the procedures it links to, such as removing the wheel.
| Wheel | Model 3 (2017–2023) | Model Y (2020–2024) | Tesla correction code |
|---|---|---|---|
| Front, rear-wheel drive | 0.30 h | 0.30 h | 31010602 |
| Front, Dual Motor | 0.48 h | 0.42 h | 31010802 |
| Rear | 0.48 h | 0.48 h | 31030702 |
What else the job needs
The bolts that hold the hub to the knuckle are reused and torqued to 85 Nm. The brake caliper bolts are not: Tesla replaces them, at 94 Nm at the front and 83 Nm at the rear.
On a driven hub (every rear hub, and the front on a Dual Motor car), the halfshaft nut is replaced too and tightened to 300 Nm once the wheel is back on. Tesla's Model 3 rear procedure raised the halfshaft nut from 245 Nm to 300 Nm in November 2023, so an older printout has the wrong figure.
At the rear, if the hub is seized in the knuckle and can't come out without damaging the halfshaft boot, Tesla's procedure has the knuckle removed first.
After a collision, Tesla's front hub procedures (updated October 27, 2026) send you to the Collision Repair Manual to check whether the steering gear has to be replaced as well.
Do you need an alignment after replacing a wheel bearing?
No. Tesla's Alignment Requirement tables for the 2017–2023 and 2024+ Model 3 and the 2020–2024 and 2025+ Model Y list no alignment (NA) for the hub, front or rear, one side or both.
For parts replaced at the same time, check their own rows in the table. A front upper control arm, for example, needs an EPAS alignment check; our upper control arm guide covers it.
What the job adds up to
One front hub on a Dual Motor Model Y is CA$219 for the hub, plus 0.42 hour at your shop's rate and a new halfshaft nut and caliper bolts. On a rear-wheel-drive car, a front hub is CA$219 plus 0.30 hour. Both front hubs of one car come to CA$438 in parts.

Frequently asked
How much does it cost to replace a Tesla wheel bearing?
The bearing comes as a hub: CA$219 per wheel at MapleV for the 2017–2023 Model 3 and 2020–2024 Model Y. Tesla's flat-rate time is 0.30 to 0.48 hour per hub, at your shop's rate, and no alignment is needed afterwards.
Can the wheel bearing be replaced without the hub?
Not with Tesla parts. Tesla's catalogue lists the bearing only as part of the hub, and its service manuals replace the hub as one unit.
Do I need an alignment after replacing a Tesla wheel bearing?
No. Tesla's alignment tables list no alignment for the hub on the Model 3 and Model Y, front or rear.
Which hub fits the front of a Dual Motor Model 3 or Model Y?
On the 2017–2023 Model 3 and 2020–2024 Model Y, Tesla lists two: 1044121-00-E (150 mm flange), which we stock, and 1044123-00-B (142 mm flange). Match the number on your estimate.
Is the front hub the same as the rear hub?
Not for our hubs. Tesla lists 1044122-00-E and 1044121-00-E at the front only. At the rear of these cars it lists 1044123-00-B, which it also lists at the front of Dual Motor cars.
Do you have wheel hubs for the Model 3 Highland or Model Y Juniper?
No. Tesla lists other numbers for those cars: 1044121-00-F and 1044123-00-B (driven) and 1044122-00-F (non-driven). We don't stock them.
What correction codes does Tesla use for a hub?
31010602 for a front hub on a rear-wheel-drive car, 31010802 for a front hub on a Dual Motor car and 31030702 for a rear hub, each per wheel.
Are your wheel hubs genuine Tesla parts?
No. They are aftermarket hubs, listed under the Tesla numbers they replace (1044122-00-E and 1044121-00-E).
