Tesla Model 3 & Model Y bumper: sensor holes or Vision — which one do I need?
Short answer: look at your current bumper. If it has a row of round ultrasonic parking-sensor holes, you need the cover WITH sensor holes. If it is smooth with no sensor holes, you need the Vision version WITHOUT holes. The same rule applies to the front and the rear bumper, on the Model 3 and the Model Y.
This split exists because Tesla removed the ultrasonic sensors partway through production. Ordering the wrong version means the sensor holes — or the lack of them — won't match your car. The Tesla OE numbers for each version are listed below.
The change: Tesla dropped ultrasonic sensors in October 2022
Tesla began moving the Model 3 and Model Y to a camera-only system it calls Tesla Vision. Radar was removed first (2021), and ultrasonic sensors (USS) were removed from Model 3 and Model Y built in October 2022 and later.
So a car built before that change has ultrasonic sensors — and sensor holes in the front and rear bumpers. A later Vision car has neither.
How to tell which one your car needs
Because the change happened mid-production, model year alone is not enough — a 2022 car can be either version. The reliable check is your original bumper: round holes = ultrasonic-sensor car (order with holes); smooth = Vision car (order without holes).
If the damaged cover is too broken to tell, look at the other bumper: a car with ultrasonic sensors has them at both ends. Always confirm the Tesla OE number against your VIN and repair estimate before ordering.

What happens if you fit the wrong one
A Vision cover (no holes) on a car that has ultrasonic sensors leaves the sensors with nowhere to mount, so the parking sensors can't work. A with-holes cover on a Vision car leaves open holes with nothing behind them. Either way the cover doesn't match the car, so check before you order.
What moves over from the old bumper
The covers ship unpainted and bare. On a car with ultrasonic sensors, the sensors and their mounting brackets come off the damaged cover and go onto the new one (or are replaced if damaged), along with the grilles and emblem. Model 3 Highland and Model Y Juniper
The 2024+ Model 3 Highland and the 2025+ Model Y Juniper were built for Tesla Vision, so there is no sensor-hole choice to make. Match the trim instead: the Highland Performance has its own front bumper.
