Tesla-approved body shops in Canada: where to find one and how the insurance claim works
Updated · Version française

Tesla's Collision Support page for Canada gives three options after a crash. Tesla Service Centres do light collision repairs: bumpers, trunks, side mirrors, wheels and glass. Tesla's own Body Repair Centres also do full structural repair. Tesla-Approved Body Shops are shops Tesla has selected and approved; Tesla says they undergo rigorous training and are held to a high standard.
The page has a locator that shows nearby shops and the distance to each. On October 14, 2026 it showed 38 listings within 150 km of Vancouver, 28 of Toronto and 24 of Montréal, with Tesla-owned collision centres in Oakville, Ontario and Kirkland, Québec. We sell Tesla Model 3 and Model Y collision parts; we do not do body work.
The three kinds of Tesla collision repair in Canada
In Tesla's words: Tesla Service Centres perform light collision repairs on parts including bumpers, trunks, side mirrors, wheels and glass. Tesla Body Repair Centres, which Tesla owns and operates, perform full structural repair in addition to light collision work. Both are booked in the Tesla app: sign in and choose Collision & Glass Repair from the menu. Depending on the damage, Tesla says you may be referred to another location.
Tesla-Approved Body Shops are not run by Tesla. On the locator, only Tesla's own centres carry the label Tesla Owned and Operated, and Tesla says to contact an approved shop directly to book. The owner's manuals give the reason Tesla points you to them: after a collision, contact Tesla or a Tesla-approved Body Shop to make sure the car is repaired with genuine Tesla parts. Tesla says it selected these shops for meeting strict requirements for training, equipment, quality and customer satisfaction.
Some approved shops on the locator carry a Tesla Preferred label. The page does not explain it, so ask the shop what it means.
| Option | What it does | How to book |
|---|---|---|
| Tesla Service Centre | Light collision repairs: bumpers, trunks, side mirrors, wheels, glass | Tesla app → Collision & Glass Repair |
| Tesla Body Repair Centre (Tesla-owned) | Full structural repair, plus light collision work | Tesla app → Collision & Glass Repair; you may be referred to another location |
| Tesla-Approved Body Shop | Collision repair by a shop Tesla has selected and approved | Contact the shop directly |
How to find a Tesla-approved body shop near you
Open Tesla's Collision Support page for Canada (tesla.com/en_ca/support/body-shop-support; fr_ca for French) and type your city in the location box. The list under the map shows the shops within 150 km, with the distance, address, phone number, website and customer rating of each. It is the list Tesla publishes itself.
We ran it for 13 cities on October 14, 2026. The counts are listings within 150 km, so Victoria's reaches Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, and Ottawa's includes Gatineau. Outside the three largest metros the counts drop: one listing within 150 km of Saskatoon or Regina, two of Winnipeg or Halifax. Shops join and leave, so check the page for your own address.

How the insurance claim works: BC, Ontario and Québec
In all three provinces you choose the shop. ICBC's collision-claims page says you can have your vehicle estimated at the repair shop of your choice. A shop in the ICBC Repair Network can bill ICBC directly and gives limited warranties on the crash repairs, and ICBC pays those shops directly for the covered work. When the repairs are done you may have to pay a deductible to the shop, and depreciation on some parts and labour subject to wear and tear. ICBC's rules for aftermarket sheet metal, and what they mean for a Tesla, are in our guide to OEM, aftermarket and CAPA parts.
In Ontario, the Financial Services Regulatory Authority lists an auto insurance consumer's rights under the Insurance Act. Two of them: reasonable repair of your damaged vehicle, and the right to choose a repair shop, tow operator or vehicle rental company.
In Québec, the Groupement des assureurs automobiles says to call your insurer as soon as possible after a collision. For a collision in Québec between at least two vehicles whose owners are identified, the insurer decides who is at fault under the Direct Compensation Agreement. It then has the damage appraised to see whether the car can be repaired or is a total loss. For the repair, the GAA says you can use the repair shop of your choice or the one your insurer recommends, and that new or recycled parts depend on your coverage.
Tesla's locator and your insurer's list of recommended shops are separate lists. A shop can be on both, one or neither, so check both before you choose.
Where the parts come from
The parts are why Tesla points you to its own locations and approved shops. The owner's manuals say the repair should use genuine Tesla parts. They warn that some repair shops and insurers might suggest non-original or salvaged parts to save money. In Tesla's view those parts do not meet its standards for quality, fit and corrosion resistance. They are not covered by the warranty, and neither is any damage or failure they cause.
Genuine parts are sold by Tesla. Anyone in Canada can order them at parts.tesla.com with a free Tesla account; our guide on buying Tesla parts in Canada covers that route and Tesla's return rules. Tesla's Canadian warranty page adds that parts bought from Tesla, or bought and installed by Tesla Service or a Tesla Collision Center, carry Tesla's Parts, Body & Paint Repair Limited Warranty. It runs 12 months or 20,000 km from the purchase date, whichever comes first, and sheet metal has a limited lifetime warranty. Our warranty guide has the full terms.
Aftermarket parts are the other route, chosen by the owner, the shop or the insurer's rules. That is what we sell: Tesla Model 3 and Model Y collision parts, aftermarket and OEM-reman, listed by Tesla OE number with a public price and stocked in Metro Vancouver. Ships to any address in Canada by ground courier: about 2 business days to Alberta and Saskatchewan, 3 to Manitoba, 5 to Ontario and Quebec (business days, not counting weekends). If you bring your own parts, ask the shop first whether it fits customer-supplied parts, and read our guide on aftermarket parts and the Tesla warranty before you decide.
What to ask before you sign the work order
Is the shop on Tesla's locator, and with which label? Which parts are on the estimate, by part number, and are they genuine Tesla, remanufactured or aftermarket? Will the cameras be recalibrated? Tesla's owner's manuals say that if a camera has shifted from its calibrated position, for example because the camera or the windshield was replaced, the calibration has to be cleared and the car driven to recalibrate. The 2025+ Model Y has a camera above the grille in the front bumper, and the 2024+ Model 3 may have one, so front-end work on those cars can involve it. Our ADAS calibration guide covers which repairs need it.
Which warranty comes with the repair? ICBC Repair Network shops give limited warranties on crash repairs. Parts bought and installed by Tesla Service or a Tesla Collision Center carry Tesla's parts, body and paint warranty: 12 months or 20,000 km, whichever comes first. At any other shop, ask for its repair warranty in writing. And if the car is still under Tesla's warranty, ask which parts the shop plans to use and check what Tesla's warranty says about them.
Frequently asked
Do I have to use a Tesla-approved body shop?
No. ICBC, Ontario's FSRA and Québec's GAA all say you can choose the repair shop. Tesla recommends its own locations or an approved shop so the repair uses genuine parts, and its warranty does not cover non-original or salvaged parts or the damage they cause.
Does Tesla have its own collision centres in Canada?
Yes. On October 14, 2026 the locator listed Tesla Collision Oakville, Ontario and Tesla Collision Montreal in Kirkland, Québec as Tesla Owned and Operated. Of the 13 cities we checked, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton had none within 150 km.
How do I book a Tesla collision repair?
For a Tesla Service Centre or Body Repair Centre, sign in to the Tesla app and choose Collision & Glass Repair. For a Tesla-Approved Body Shop, contact the shop directly; the locator shows its phone number and website.
What does Tesla Preferred mean on the locator?
It is a label some approved shops carry on Tesla's Collision Support page. The page does not explain it, so ask the shop what it means.
Will the shop use genuine Tesla parts?
Tesla says contacting Tesla or an approved shop is how to make sure of genuine Tesla parts. Ask for the part numbers on the estimate. Whether aftermarket parts are used can also depend on the insurer's rules and your coverage.
Can I buy the parts myself and bring them to the shop?
You can buy genuine parts at parts.tesla.com, or aftermarket parts from a supplier like us, but ask the shop first whether it fits customer-supplied parts. On an insurance claim the shop normally orders the parts on the estimate.
Does a Tesla need camera calibration after body work?
Tesla's manuals say the calibration must be cleared and redone if a camera has shifted, for example when the camera or the windshield was replaced. The 2025+ Model Y has a camera in the front bumper above the grille, and the 2024+ Model 3 may have one, so a front bumper repair on those cars can involve it.
